Science (Applied) BTEC Subsidiary Diploma

Why should I study this subject?

This vocational qualification will provide you with the practical scientific skills required to move into many areas of scientific employment and training. Furthermore it will expand on your knowledge of the three sciences giving you a broad and transferable foundation.

What will I study?

Topics include:

  • Principles and application of science.
  • Practical scientific procedures and techniques.
  • Science investigation skills.

What skills do I need?

Maths and comprehension skills are key as is the ability to be organised and hit deadlines.

How will I be taught?

Three, one and a half hour lessons per week

How will I be assessed?

Coursework & exam.

What will the course prepare me for?

A career of further education in most scientific fields particularly popular areas of study and employment have been biomedical science, analytical and forensic science, physical science, midwifery and many more.

How much private study should I expect to do?

5 hours per week outside College

What materials will I need to purchase?

Well equipped pencil case, including scientific calculator.
