Current New College Doncaster student Owen Paterson, who studies Applied Law, Business and Spanish, has shown his business skills by starting up his own company ‘The College Party Reloaded’. CPR is a developing events company, with its core objective to enter the college party event market in the town of Doncaster.
Owen said, “CPR aims to provide an unforgettable experience for college students in the 16-19 age bracket. It is important to be at the cutting edge of the young community, this will help us gain an insight on what they are wanting from the nights that CPR hosts. This will allow us to adapt to what they are looking for when deciding whether to attend an event or not. It is important to know and understand our target market, this is why having the organiser amongst the target market will help the company find its feet and keep our finger firmly on the pulse”.
“The short term aim is to make a success of the first event on the 24th of July. The success of this event will be measured on the comments it gains in the days following the event and if it will gain returning college students to future events. In terms of the aim with the sale of tickets I believe that with the acts that we are putting on the event should sell out. The acts that are booked to headline the event are ‘MC PAT FLYNN’ and ‘DJ LITTLE LIAM’.
“It is foreseeable that in the future this brand will expand towards the other age groups and cities with in the UK”.
Scott Faulker, teacher of business said, “Throughout his time in Business Studies Owen has really shown a strong entrepreneurial spirit and his passion for the subject is strong to see. It is great to see him using the skills and knowledge acquired from lessons in to planning an event that I hope will be the first of many to come. Owen has been meticulous in his approach to organising the event, with every small detail carefully considered so that all those attending have an unforgettable time. The confidence he has shown whilst organising the College Party Reloaded has confirmed for me that Owen is an outstanding business tycoon and one to watch out for in the future.
New College Principal, Brendon Fletcher said, “Setting up your own business and running an event of this size is a huge achievement and I am impressed by Owen’s entrepreneurial zeal. It has been great to see Owen using the skills he is developing at New College Doncaster to support him in this venture. Hearing about the event was exciting and I was very interested to learn about the steps Owen has taken to make sure that his event has wide appeal for young people in Doncaster and that it is a safe and secure environment. We wish him every success with this new event for Doncaster.”
