New College Doncaster students have again achieved a remarkable set of results. With 61.8% of all A level students achieving A*, A or B grades and a 99.6% pass rate, New College Doncaster has exceeded its already very strong pre-covid results of 2019 which then saw the college top the table of A level providers in the Doncaster region. Despite results nationally falling back towards pre-covid levels, New College Doncaster has sustained the exceptionally strong results awarded via teacher assessed grades last year, bucking the national trend. Students studying Applied General Courses such as BTEC qualifications also achieved exceptional results, with 78.9% achieving top distinction grades or better, and with a 98.8% pass rate.
Principal Brendon Fletcher commented, “We are hugely proud of our students who have achieved the best results in the college’s history, despite the challenges of covid and despite this being the first set of external exams for this year group. These results are a rich reward for the hard work of students and staff, supporting fantastic progression to the best universities, apprenticeships and jobs.”
These results follow New College Doncaster’s Ofsted inspection in December 2021 in which the college was rated ‘Outstanding’ in all categories.
“We are incredibly proud of the results achieved by New College,” said Richard Fletcher, CEO of the college’s multi-academy trust, the New Collaborative Learning Trust. “Given the special context of the past few years, we are delighted that across the whole Trust we have seen some exceptional outcomes for students this summer. These results will open the door for them to better courses, better apprenticeships and better jobs after college, helping to make a genuine impact on social mobility in our region.”
