Year 13 Next Steps Evening
We are pleased to invite you to our Virtual Year 13 Next Steps Evening on Thursday 17th November. This event follows on from our first Next Steps Event in May and the purpose is to support parents and carers with some of the key decisions that students will need to make over the forthcoming year, with a clear outline of key dates and actions that all students will need to have completed.
The event will be split into two halves.
Between 6:00pm – 6:30pm, the focus will be for students applying to university and will explore:
- What happens after the application is submitted and responding to university offers, including the selection of firm and insurance choices
- Recap of student finance and how to apply
- Additional important dates for those applying to university, including information about accommodation and other living arrangements
Between 6:40pm – 7:10pm, the focus will be for students applying for an apprenticeship and will be a recap of:
- The different levels of apprenticeships available
- Information about the application process for apprenticeships
- Information about where to find apprenticeship opportunities

Year 13 Parents and Carers Evening, Wednesday 23rd November 2022 – Online Appointment Booking
The event provides an important opportunity to discuss student progress and learning with teachers and, if required, the student’s Progress Tutor. Students are encouraged to attend appointments with you and we very much hope you will be able to join us.
In response to positive parental feedback last year we are continuing with virtual appointments. This allows you to join each appointment from the comfort of your home and with all appointments running to time.
The college uses an easy-to-use online appointment booking system. This allows you to choose your own appointment times with teachers and you will receive an email confirming your appointments. If you are trying to make an appointment with a teacher and their schedule is full, you will be given the opportunity to place your name on a waiting list. The teacher will then contact you later.
Appointments can be made on receipt of your invitation letter and they will close on 23rd November at 11.30am. Should you wish to make any changes after this date and time please contact Student Services on 01977 702139 or email studentservices@nclt.ac.uk
If you require an appointment with Study Support, please email studentservices@nclt.ac.uk with your preferred appointment time.
Please visit https://newcollegedoncaster.schoolcloud.co.uk/ to book your appointments. A short guide on how to add appointments is enclosed with this letter.
Login with the following information: (Ensure you include middle names too.)
Student’s Forenames: (as shown in bold) «Forenames»
Student’s Surname: «Surname»
Student Reference/ID Number: «Student_reference»
To attend your appointments on the evening please click the link on the email you receive with your confirmed appointments and you will be connected to the teacher by a video call. You do not need to install any software in advance and the system will work through a standard web browser. Appointments are 6 minutes long and a visual clock will indicate how much time remains before the system ends your appointment.
University of Hull Drop-in session
We would like to offer parents and carers attending our Y13 Parents and Carers event on the 23rd November an opportunity to ask questions to our partner university, The University of Hull, who are available to provide information, advice and support for any questions you may have relating to university in general, finance, and university life etc. You will be able to speak to the staff at the University of Hull via accessing the link below to a drop-in session.
Please do take the opportunity to chat with them as they are able to offer valuable support to our parents and carers in helping students through their journey.
