New College Doncaster Students Celebrate Record-Breaking Results in 2026

Students at New College Doncaster are celebrating another year of outstanding academic success, with the college achieving its best ever A Level and Applied General results and continuing its strong tradition of excellence.

This year, the college has broken its own record for student achievement, delivering year-on-year improvements across both A Level and Applied qualifications. The exceptional outcomes mean that students are now progressing to their chosen universities, higher and degree apprenticeships, and employment opportunities with confidence and ambition.

A Level students achieved a remarkable 99% pass rate, with 56% of grades awarded at A-B and 27% of students achieving the highest grades of A*-A.

Students studying Applied General qualifications also achieved exceptional success, recording a 100% pass rate, with 73% of grades awarded at Distinction or Distinction*.

These outstanding outcomes come just weeks after New College Doncaster was recognised by Ofsted as meeting the “strong standard” in every area under the inspectorate’s new framework. The inspection praised the college’s leadership, teaching, inclusion, safeguarding and support for learners, noting that “Students thrive at New College Doncaster” and highlighting the college’s highly inclusive culture, ambitious curriculum and outstanding student experience.

These figures may improve slightly as exam boards process requests for reviews and remarks.

Helen Jackson, Principal of New College Doncaster, said:

“We are absolutely delighted with this year’s results, which are the strongest in the college’s history. To achieve record-breaking outcomes across both A Level and Applied General qualifications is a tremendous accomplishment for our students and staff alike.

“The dedication, resilience and determination shown by our students throughout their studies have been exceptional and demonstrates the outstanding talent and ambition within our college community.

“We are incredibly proud of everything our students have achieved and are excited to see them progress to the next stage of their education, training and careers. These results reflect not only their hard work, but also the commitment of our teaching, pastoral and support teams who help create an environment where young people can thrive.”

These outcomes build on New College Doncaster’s excellent track record of helping students make meaningful progress and secure positive destinations after college.

Brendon Fletcher, Executive Director for Sixth Form Education at New Collaborative Learning Trust, added:

“These record-breaking results are a testament to the ambition and commitment of our students and staff. It is particularly pleasing to see continued year-on-year improvement, with more students than ever achieving the highest grades and progressing to exciting future opportunities.

“Whether our students are moving on to leading universities, competitive apprenticeships or entering employment, these results provide them with an excellent platform for success. We are immensely proud of their achievements.”

Richard Fletcher, CEO of New Collaborative Learning Trust, said:

“Every year, results day gives us a great opportunity to celebrate with our young people and their families, as we help them open the door to the next step in their lives. These fantastic outcomes demonstrate the positive impact our colleges continue to have on social mobility across the region.

“Breaking previous records and outperforming national benchmarks is a remarkable achievement. These results ensure that our young people have better chances of improved life outcomes, accessing more competitive university courses, apprenticeships and jobs across the country. Our students deserve enormous credit for their hard work, and we thank our staff and families for the support they provide in helping young people reach their full potential.”
