Doncaster’s first sixth form college, New College Doncaster, opening in September 2017, is delighted to announce the appointment of Brendon Fletcher as Principal Designate. The college is the sister college of New College Pontefract, an Ofsted ‘outstanding’ college with over 2400 students, and aims to strengthen the quality of A level and BTEC provision in Doncaster and offer a much greater choice of subjects for young people.
Welcoming the appointment, Pauline Hagen OBE, Chief Executive, added “Brendon brings to Doncaster outstanding leadership experience, ability and professionalism. Brendon has been instrumental in driving standards and student support at New College Pontefract. One of our most gifted teachers, Brendon will focus relentlessly on our mission to ensure that students in Doncaster enjoy an unparalleled learning experience.”
The new Principal Designate progresses from his role as Vice Principal at New College Pontefract, with a background in both 16-19 and 11-19 educational provision. Brendon Fletcher, 37, has also led the college’s teaching school alliance – a collaboration involving over 30 schools and colleges, and started his career as a maths teacher. Brendon Fletcher commented “I am thrilled to be taking up the reins of this exciting new venture. Young people in Doncaster deserve the very best. The next few months will be a busy one for us – as the bricks are laid and our new college is built, it will be a privilege to meet the hundreds of students that will be joining us in September, through our open evenings, interview evenings and our visits to local schools.”
An Open Day for prospective students and parents will take place at Doncaster Racecourse on Saturday 19 November, 10am-1pm. In addition, the college warmly welcomes students and parents to join our Application and Interview evenings at Hayfield School, Auckley, on Wednesday 30 November and Wednesday 8 March, 3pm to 7pm.
