Study Support Provision
The Study Support Team aims to help students maximise their educational achievements during their time at New College. The welcoming and professional staff will give you individual help with any aspect of your studies. We actively promote a policy of inclusion, so specialist support is available for students with a special educational need, disability or health care need.
We embrace the ethos that young people have the right to high quality teaching and learning and that through personalised support we will help remove the barriers to learning. We identify at application students whom have a special educational need or disability, and once identified we work closely with parents/carers and external agencies to ensure that these young people are safe and fully supported to achieve their potential.
The welcoming and professional tutors will give you individual help to support you in accessing your learning and will work closely with your subject teachers and external agencies. Support is provided in small groups, ‘one to one’ or in-class, according to the needs and wishes of the student.
We actively promote a policy of inclusion, so our provision often includes access arrangements for examinations, such as extra time and the use of word processors. It is very important that you disclose any disabilities or difficulties on your college application so we can plan in advance to meet your needs.
Supporting you with a difficulty or disability
At New College we welcome students with learning difficulties or disabilities and endeavour to make the experience of college life a positive one. Our Study Support staff will work with you from transition in school to your progression beyond college to ensure you have the best chance of settling into college life and are able to succeed and progress. Before you take up your place at college, a member of the Study Support Team will be available to discuss your individual needs and any specialist support and/or facilities that you may require. Your support will be reviewed at regular intervals and adjusted, according to your needs.

What Our
Students
“What an amazing 2 years it’s been, and in all honesty, I really don’t want to leave. I’ll be leaving lots of memories and friends behind as well as many great teachers… and most of all, the amount of support I have had over these 2 extremely short years. Can’t believe I’m leaving! Thank you once again for the support, and putting up with me for 2 years, it’s been great!”
